NEWS: Indoor facility to reopen on Saturday 20 June!

ANU Sport, working in conjunction with the Australian National University, is preparing Stage 2 of their reopening plan, targeting Saturday 20 June as a potential date for Building 19 to be open to students and staff.

Building 19 houses the ANU Sport Fitness Centre and Indoor Sports Facilities and these will be accessible to the public under adherence to strict conditioning in relation to the guidelines laid down by the ACT Government and the ANU Sport Social Distancing and Hygiene Protocols.

The plan sees the Fitness Centre opening under restrictions regarding social distancing, the practice of good hygiene and maximum occupancy, with numbers and details to be confirmed.

Our popular Group Fitness sessions will also return from Saturday 20 June with a reduced timetable in place and limited attendees, whilst the Indoor Sports Halls will be available for bookings, again with restricted and reduced access.

“We are delighted to be able to reopen some of our facilities to our members and would like to thank them for their continued support,” ANU Sport CEO Katrina O’Mahony commented.

“Whilst this is a big step back toward normality for all, we must continue to be vigilant and careful in our hygiene practices and maintain social distancing as per the current ACT Government regulations.

“Our facilities will be constantly monitored and kept clean and we ask all attendees to please follow the instructions set out in the Government and ANU Sport guidelines to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all.”

IMPORTANT: Participants cannot return to training, attend the Fitness Centre, or book facilities, if they feel unwell, have flu-like symptoms; have travelled internationally in the last 14 days, have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 in the preceding 14 days or are considered high risk from a health perspective.

More information regarding the restrictions, access to the facilities, how to book your place in our classes and memberships will be available in the coming weeks. ANU Sport will contact Fitness Centre Members directly once details are confirmed to provide an update on their membership.

ANU Sport thanks our community for the ongoing understanding and support as we prepare to return to operations. Please continue to check our website, social media and the University website for the latest information > https://www.anu.edu.au/covid-19-advice
