Fast Fitness: Which Machine Burns the Most Calories?

MINI FEATURE: Feel the Burn!

For as long as cardio rooms have existed, the search has been ongoing for the machine which shreds those extra kilos fastest.

A recent Harvard University study cites the elliptical machine as the winner.

The study found the elliptical burned up to 800 calories per hour.

Treadmills were not far behind in second with 712 calories - with cycling and rowing machines still a great workout, melting away calories in the low-600s after a one-hour workout. 

The main advantage of the elliptical as a fat burning furnace is the all-body workout - proper usage of this apparatus involves vigorous use of the arms and upper body, in addition to the legs.
