Term 2 of the Interhall Sport competition is well underway after Bruce Hall excelled in Term 1 competition to put themselves ahead in the Sports Shield race. Term 2 has seen some tough competition in Badminton, Basketball, Hockey and Rugby 7s, with finals to come in all sports in the next two weeks. Additionally, the inaugural women’s AFL 9s tournament will begin on Friday 19th May to conclude the semester of Interhall Sport.
The basketball competition is beginning to wrap up with finals to be played in the coming weeks. Griffin Hall, UniLodge, John XXIII College and Fenner Hall will play off in the men’s competition for a spot in the Grand Final. In the women’s competition, Bruce Hall will play UniLodge and B&G will play the winner of John XXIII and Griffin Hall for a spot in the Grand Final. The competition has been tight and with victory in the competition worth a total of 16 Sports Shield points, the results of the basketball competition will be crucial to the overall standings in Interhall Sport.
Hockey playoffs began last week, with Semi-Finals scheduled for Thursday 18th May. Reparcharge finals will occur on Tuesday 16th May with Burgmann vs UniLodge and Griffin vs Burton & Garran in the women’s to playoff for a spot in the semis. In the men’s, B&G will play Fenner and Burgmann will play Bruce for semi-final chances. Grand finals for the Hockey competition are scheduled for Thursday 25th May.
The badminton competition was again hotly contested this year. Congratulations to UniLodge for winning the competition, taking home 10 sports shield points. Congratulations also go to Fenner for their second placing and to Bruce for their third placing!
The Rugby 7s finals have been postponed and will be rescheduled to a later date! John XXIII College finished on top of Pool A while Ursula Hall finished on top of Pool B.
