ANU Sport and Recreation Association Incorporated (ANU Sport) is a not-for-profit organisation that provides students, staff, alumni and affiliates of The Australian National University with an extensive range of sporting, fitness, recreation and wellbeing opportunities.

Whether you are looking for involvement in organised sport, maintaining your general fitness levels or simply networking with like-minded individuals, ANU Sport encourage you to make the most of your experience during and after your university studies through the services we offer.

ANU Sport commit allocations from the Student Services & Amenities Fee (SSAF) to support ANU students in their sport and recreation endeavours.


ANU Sport provides the following service & amenities:

A fully equipped fitness centre and strength & conditioning facility

ANU Sport provides a fully functional fitness centre to students, staff, ANU Sport members and the general public. Membership options are available for Off-Peak and Full use and can be purchased upfront or on a direct debit plan.

75+ group fitness classes every week

ANU Sport boasts an extensive and diverse Group Fitness Timetable with 75+ classes to suit any fitness level. Led by our energetic instructors, ANU Sport offers the latest Les Mills classes such as RPM, BodyPump and Sh'bam to name a few. We also offer members 5 unique programs Circuit, Functional Fitness, Tactical Fitness, Female Tactical Fitness and Strength and Flexibility that are driven by our personal trainers.

Large range of sporting facilities for social and competitive sport

ANU Sport has an extensive range of sporting and recreation facilities on campus available for hire. These include:

  • 2 multi-purpose sport halls
  • 4 ovals; 3 grass and 1 synthetic
  • 6 tennis courts
  • 2 squash courts
  • 6 cricket nets
  • 2 indoor climbing walls
  • Dojo room

Bookings must be made through ANU Sport online or at reception.

University representative sport competitions

There are plenty of opportunities for students to get involved in social and competitive sport during academic year. Fixtures include:

ANU Sport have 34 affiliated clubs that cover a cross section of competitive, social, instructional and recreational sports. Clubs can be found HERE

Dedicated athlete development programs

The ANU Sport Athlete Development Program provides ANU Students and Canberra-based athletes access to strength and conditioning coaches, facilities and services to develop their capabilities as an athlete to achieve success in their sport.
