Women's Intro to the Gym

Why do we train? How do we do it? How do we stick with it? Whatever your current skill level, the course is perfect for women looking to learn form and technique required to work out in the gym. You'll learn to use pin-loaded machines, free weights and cardio equipment, and learn body-weight exercises and compound movements such as squats, dead-lifts and bench presses! Our female trainers will guide you through a structured program to learn the above techniques and exercises, in a supportive and progressive environment. 

Who: Female-identifying participants of any age or experience level.

Where: ANU Sport Fitness Centre, Level 3.

Cost: ANU Student or Fitness Centre member: $50, General Public: $100.

Introduction to Powerlifting

This 5 week course is designed to teach you to the basics of powerlifting. This program is suitable for complete novices, even those who have never stepped inside a gym or touched a barbell before! During the 5 week program you will learn how to perform the 3 lifts of powerlifting: squat, bench press, and deadlift. Not only will you learn how to perform these lifts, but you will also learn how to correctly and safely spot someone performing a lift.

Who: all participants welcome, regardless of age, gender, or experience!

Where: ANU Sport Level 3.

Cost: ANU Student & Fitness Centre members: $30, General Public: $70.

Introduction to Judo

This course will give participants an appreciation of the techniques and skills of Judo, as well provide the chance to gain skills and improve their fitness! The classes will  be practical rather than theoretical: attendees will learn how to break-fall, throwing and grappling techniques, and more. The beginners’ courses will cover many aspects of Judo but emphasis will be placed on gaining practical Judo skills rather than trying to cram a lot of techniques into a short course. Revision of techniques will occur in all classes to ensure you master the basics. You can read more about the course here

Cost: ANU Student: $50, ANU Sport Club Members and Gym Members: $65, General Public: $80.
