Reopening - All you need to know

ANU Sport will reopen its doors on Saturday 20 June with restrictions in place across the facilities. The following is a quick guide on everything you need to know about the resumption of sporting activities inside Building 19. Click here for the ANU Sport Stage 2.2 plan for Return to Business Plan.



Our opening times are:
Monday – Friday: 7.00am-8.00pm 
Saturday – Sunday: 8.30am-5pm


Upon reopening, all memberships will be reactivated from 20th June unless a previous suspension agreement has been applied to your membership. If you are unsure if you made such a request, please email sportatanu-sport [dot] com [dot] au or check your membership portal by logging in here on 20th June.

All nominated accounts for direct debit memberships will be charged for your membership fee on Thursday 2nd July, for access from 20th June 2020, unless a suspension agreement is in place. This will include the retrospective 12 days (20 June – 1 July) and the future 14 days (2 July – 15 July) payments. From the Thursday 16th July, the direct debit will return to the usual process, covering the future fortnight. If you wish to continue the automatic suspension on your membership and return to the centre at a later date, please email sportatanu-sport [dot] com [dot] au by close of business (5pm) on Friday 19th June 2020 and specify a date range you wish your membership to remain inactive. 

It is important to note that prior to registering for your first session back, any memberships with outstanding fees for debits pre-dating 23rd March must be up to date. Notification of these fees were sent prior to our closure and further reminders will be sent on Monday 15th June. Payment of outstanding fees can be completed through the online member portal located here. This instructional videos on our Social Media channels will help to walk you through the process. Unfortunately, if there is an outstanding balance owing to a membership, members will be unable to book sessions online. If you need to make a payment plan for outstanding fees, please email sportatanu-sport [dot] com [dot] au.

Memberships will be available to purchase online Monday 15th June. We encourage new members to select the start date of their membership as 20th June 2020. New members will be required to visit reception upon their first visit however this will not prevent new members from registering for gym floor and group fitness sessions through our online member portal prior to attending the centre. 

Our 7 Day trials, which were handed out in leaflet form during O-Week, will be available to use from the start of Semester 2 (Monday 27th July). We look forward to welcoming our student community back onto campus!

FITNESS CENTRE: We are open for one-hour sessions and members must book online. Slots can be booked for the main fitness centre (capacity 39 people) OR the strength and conditioning room (capacity 9 people) using the member portal on the website. Please note you will be limited to either the main fitness centre including the cardio room and FTS OR the strength and conditioning room, but not both. This is a temporary measure while restrictions remain in place. Members are requested to only book one session per-day and four sessions per-week to ensure all members can access facilities. Please note, if you book multiple sessions, you may not be admitted to the fitness centre in the later sessions during the day. A session is access to the main fitness centre OR strength and conditioning or OR a group fitness class.

GROUP FITNESS CLASSES: There are a limited number of group fitness classes on our timetable in operation. Members may book slots in these classes through the member portal on the website. Classes will be held in Studio 1 (capacity 18 people).

SPORTS HALLS: Our Sports Halls are available provided the activity is approved under the current ACT government guidelines. No walk-in bookings will be available. Patrons are able to send booking requests via the normal process. Our Facility hire enquiry form can be found here

EQUIPMENT HIRE: There will not be equipment available for hire due to the current health guidelines. Patrons must bring their own equipment (e.g. racquets, balls etc). There will still be shuttlecocks available for purchase.

LOCKER HIRE: Short Term locker hire will be unavailable. The Pigeonholes in the main fitness centre and strength and conditioning room remain available. Long Term locker hire contracts are available for 1, 6 and 12 months at $20, $100, and $200 respectively. These must be purchased at reception and the patron must provide their own lock.


Members are able to use the active carrot member portal of the website in order to book timeslots into the fitness centre and group fitness sessions. For facility hire enquiries, forms can be found in the facilities section of the website. Due to the current health restrictions we are unable to accommodate walk in bookings and enquiries at this time.
