Intervarsity Sport finishes the year on the high and 2021 Blues Awards nominations in play!

1. Intervarsity Review:

With the UniSport Nationals being cancelled a few months ago, ANU Sport was delighted to return to community sport post lockdown and wrap up the year with a couple of intervarsity events for our students.

Collaborating with the University of Canberra (UC) and the Australian Catholic University (ACU), we launched the inaugural ACT Intervarsity on 22nd November.

Each university nominated a group of students to compete in a 2-day social IV event playing mixed Basketball, Netball and Touch Football, finishing up with a social gathering at the RUC for an afternoon of Lawn Bowls.

The following week, on 1st and 2nd of December, the ANU Sport Basketball, Netball and Touch Football clubs travelled to Sydney to compete in the UniSport Nationals NSW, hosted by USYD.

Over 600 students represented 12 of the East region universities in Basketball, Hockey, Netball, Oztag and Touch Football. The ANU teams ranked 7th place overall after the two-day event.

The two weeks showcased some fantastic sportsmanship, and after two years of events being cancelled, it was fantastic to witness the pure joy on the students faces to be able to participate in intervarsity sport again.
