Lunchtime Sport: 2015 Finals Preview

Lunchtime Sport reaches its grand final week after some major upsets in the semi-finals and some extremely close games. This week the winners of all the competitions will be decided in what should be some thrilling action.

In Ultimate Disc – Game of Throws seeded 4th upset number 1 seed Fris-Baes to move into the grand final. They take on number 2 seed Disciples who won through to the grand final accounting for the 3rd seed Fury. This is sure to be a close game and tough to pick a winner, especially considering the mid-season match up was cancelled due to a forfeit.

On Tuesday the 6-A-Side competition features a Div 1 and Div 2 final. Banding together at the start of the season is the Cinderella story team The Ring Ins. They are a group of players who were all looking for a team to join before forming their own. They will compete in the Div 2 grand final against 6 Flavours who has steadily improved each week. In Div 1 the highly fancied We Have Gaspari take on the only team to beat them this year Off In Church.

This semesters' Futsal competitions have been superb with some thrilling games and high levels of skills on display. Division 1 has the classy and slick Herny taking on the skilful and balanced Sharks in what should be a close game. These teams have played twice this semester splitting the points with 1 win each. In division 2 the high powered Co Op Potato take on the surprise packet in McDiddle United who knocked off minor premiers Soldout FC in the semi-final.

Touch semi-finals were unfortunately cancelled due to the poor weather last Thursday. This means the finals have reverted to a 1v2 match up for the grand final. In division 1 Pigs With Rigs take on Bear Gryllz, both teams hardly dropped a game all season and have been to the 2 top teams in the competition. Lots of bragging rights at stake in this one. Division 2 was a much closer competition and teams in 3rd and 4th place can consider themselves unlucky not have the chance to play in the semi-final. The final will see top of the ladder Mots Night taking on My Ding Ding Dong. The teams are hard to split with My Ding Ding Dong winning the first encounter earlier in the year.

Good luck to all teams. We hope you enjoyed another semester of Lunchtime Sport and look forward to seeing you all in Semester 1, 2016.
