It’s the half-way point of Semester 2 and that means the Lunchtime Sport competitions are reaching a well-earned break before returning for the pointy end of the competition. There has been plenty of fantastic skill on display across all the sports and some great sportsmanship shown amongst teams.
Ultimate Disc - The top of the table is jam packed with teams vying for the bragging rights of minor premiers heading into finals. Out in front and yet to taste defeat is the mighty Fury. Sitting atop the standings at 5 – 0 they have had an impressive start to the competition. A close win over Game of Throws separated Fury to the top of the ladder. Nipping at their heels are Fris-Baes, Game of throws and Bills Disc-iples whom have all only dropped the one game. It will be a hot race into the finals no doubt!
6-A-Side – Sitting atop the Division 1 ladder is the star studded We have Gaspari whom are currently undefeated, although they have faced some tough challenges along the way. They will be looking to continue their winning form into the second half and will need to do so with the likes of AC A-Little-Silhouetta-of-Milan, Football Club FC and Off In Church all within striking distance of top spot. Improvement needs to be shown from the ANU Sport Owls who have struggled early in the competition but will be looking to build on their recent win and make a late run in to finals calculations. In Division 2, The Ring In’s look the dominant side as they are yet to drop a game along with One Foot In the Groin. Both competitions are particularly close with all teams still in contention for finals spots if they can find that winning form.
Futsal – This semesters competition has seen some big score lines, lots goals, some great saves and even a split eyebrow with players giving their all. The Top 4 of Division 1 are separated only by 1 point with Ji Sung Park the Bus, Herny, Sharks and Crystal Meth Palace all fighting for top spot. Soldout FC hold a narrow lead atop the Division 2 competition being chased by Leon’s Lunchtime Sport Squad and McDiddle United. The quality of the comps has been outstanding so there are sure to be some thrilling finishes as the competition reaches the pointy end.
Touch Football – The ever popular lunchtime touch football competition has continued to field strong competitions with both divisions being hotly contested. In Division 1 there is a tie at the top of the ladder with Bear Gryllz and Pigs With Rigs even on 12 points. In hot pursuit are the Drop Bears and Care Bears both sitting 1 ½ games behind. Division 2 sees Bears RUCkus holding off Mots Night and Bearlievers by one game. The second half of the semester should see plenty of tries as all the teams look to make a charge towards the finals.
We look forward to the return of play after the well-earned break.
